Character, constantly in motion and striving for its ultimate purpose.

ethos: the framework made up of the standards, habits, and convictions of a character
teleos: the end-goal, completion, fulfillment of its potential

A character forged by its ultimate purpose. Not static perfection, but the relentless drive toward one's most complete self.

I'm Jake Botticello. I build systems, and sometimes break them to see what's inside and how they work. Then I write down what I learned during the process.

Production AI agents, a memory recall architecture that reconstructs in three unique readings instead of just retrieval, a filament cabinet that killed four thermoelectric coolers before I understood the physics. The through-line isn't the subject matter — it's the method. I strive to make every claim here show its work.

Thirty years of building things — of reimagining and reinspecting and asking “but why is that the process?” Currently working out loud on what it means to engineer alongside machines that are confidently wrong and ubiquitously “yes-men.”

FROM THE WORKSHOP · BUILD LOG

The Goal Is Dry, Not Cold

Five sessions optimized a filament cabinet for the wrong variable. The correction was one sentence long: cold is the mechanism; dryness is the product.

The Tracks Meet After the Experiment

Track Meet Doctrine described Cypher before Wallaby existed. When the memory and recall layer arrived, it inherited a method built on disciplined intuition, parallel work, and falsification.

The Memory Should Change

Wallaby began with a fixed record, a plastic read layer, and a refusal to confuse retrieval with presence.
